Business Systems Analyst - IT

Role Summary
This role will report to the Project Manager for the project. Involved throughout the entire system development life cycle. Provide a thorough analysis of business problems and processes, and customer and end-user needs to define functional and non-functional requirements for technology solutions. Management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements. Strong partnership with business development and technical teams to prototype and deliver application solutions with respect to value, quality and end-user experience.

Conduit between IT applications and systems and end-users.
Key partner in communications for project owners and project managers – assisting with development and delivery of project communications and stakeholder management.

Core Knowledge and Skills
Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to communicate to multiple levels of the organization and with non-technical partners to derive technical requirements and priorities.

Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to arbitrate and objectively evaluate competing requests across the enterprise.

Take a strategic viewpoint and apply critical thinking skills to near-term work product.

Business requirement elicitation techniques, options prioritization and analysis, translation to technical functional and non-functional requirements, solution design, test planning, change management, vendor management.

Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time.
Ability to facilitate small teams, guiding work delivery and quality.

Project Summary
Standardize how projects utilize JIRA, Clarizen and other work management tools. The IT leadership is seeking a Business System Analyst (BSA) to support collecting and analyzing how IT staff uses JIRA and Clarizen, what gaps exist and work to develop a standard approach each team can leverage. The BSA will partner with IT leadership to develop a plan to roll out the identified changes to work management tools and how IT works together to provide a more effective partnership with business stakeholders.

The Business System Analyst (BSA) will be responsible for the items below (but not limited to):
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and project teams to identify, analyze, and document how teams are currently using JIRA and Clarizen, what gaps exists and challenges users face
  • Learn and understand the tool
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop a standardized approach for JIRA and Clarizen and other work management tools
  • Develop training and other key materials to prepare impacted users for any changes identified
  • Contribute to the creation of strategic and tactical direction of the initiative by facilitating requirements review and approval with business owners, project team and IT leadership
  • Facilitate requirement gathering workshops and document key outputs
  • Create roadmap for future enhancements, changes and other initiatives that will impact this effort going forward
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated technical acumen
Demonstrated ability to come up to speed on new tools quickly (Trello, Jira, Clarizen, others)
Process design and mapping
Collaborate with Stakeholders; Change Management
