*Hours are FULL TIME, 40 Hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6:00pm*

Montessori Preschool Assistant Teacher - Float

Evergreen Academy Montessori is seeking highly motivated and dedicated candidates for our Mixed-Age Montessori Preschool program at our Bothell campus. This is an entry level position with opportunities for advancement within the company based on job performance.

Classroom and After School Program duties:

  • Float from classroom to classroom assisting Lead Teachers and providing time for their breaks
  • Supervise students at all times including transitions between activities so students are accounted for, are safe at all times and they know what is expected of them.
  • Serve as a good example and role model to the students, and maintain and appropriate level of professionalism at all times.
  • Aide student’s in developing self-confidence and a positive self-image by providing an environment of acceptance and support for each student.
  • Give directions both verbally and visually, when appropriate by using correct grammar and a variation in voice and gestures.
  • Provide time and attention equitably among all students while circulating freely and spontaneously around the classroom.
  • Actively greet parents each day upon drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with the school child disciplinary process.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child in his/her group.
  • Maintain a physical environment (indoors and outdoors) which is safe, healthy, neat, attractive, clean, and appropriate for students and is conducive to having fun.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding staff, children and families as well as management and operations.

Qualifications and Skills

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Is passionate about working with young children
  • Has a minimum of 1 year of teaching and/or childcare experience
  • Is willing to maintain ongoing required professional development (Early Childhood professionals are required by the state of WA to take a 30 hour Basic Training course within 3 months of hire date. First Aid/CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens training are also required. Negative TB test documentation required.)
  • Has some knowledge of the Montessori Method of education, or is open to learning the foundations of the Montessori approach and philosophy and proper usage of materials.
