8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday

Job Summary:

In addition, this job also has responsibility for timely filing, follow up, collections, credit balances, posting, and/or customer service of patient accounts for respective areas of control.

Prepare and file appropriate claims and patient statements. Edit and correct failed claims. Monitor claims for appropriate billing. Communicate problems with billing to Billing Manager.

Receive and answer patient telephone and written inquiries regarding charges and/or billing discrepancies. Greet and assist customers. Explain account payment and settlement processes. Document all customer telephone calls and billing information

Contact insurance carriers and/or patients as necessary. Identify problem accounts, research and work to resolution. Provide duplicate billings, coordination of benefits and medical records to expedite payment of insurance claims. Research accounts daily for credit balances and process refunds. Respond to correspondence. Document all billing notes and patient telephone calls. Work and prepare reports necessary to maintain acceptable levels of accounts receivables.

Effectively and in a timely manner work CRS and A/R reports; Research accounts and clean up claims. Obtain third-party payments and document payments and denials carefully.

Maintain current knowledge of institutional & departmental policies, third party payer regulations and regulatory billing requirements and processes.

Provide excellent customer service to clients, internal customers and patients.

Consistently communicate effectively.

Provide follow up on issues timely and efficiently.

Willingly performs other duties as assigned.


Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred

Experience: 6 months experience in healthcare environment. Billing experience preferred.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: None

Special Training: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office; possess knowledge of ICD9, CPT and HCPCS coding; must be able to think analytically and communicate well with others.
