POSITION SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Controller role is highly motivated and looking for the next step in his or her career by joining a dynamic organization in the growing health care industry. This role is a natural progression to the Controllership or similarly-situated roles. A technical accounting background and polished interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of an organization is key to success in this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participating in a team of ~45 individuals in the accounting department in 3 city locations (Tacoma, Nashville, and Dallas) as one of six "lane leaders" alongside the Director of Operational Accounting, the Director of Payroll Services, Disbursements Manager, Director of Internal Controls and Billing and Collections Manager
Directly managing a team consisting of a General Ledger Manager, Treasury Manager, two Staff Accountants and an intern
Managing the monthly close process
Internal and external reporting under a monthly and quarterly cadence
Technical accounting research and writing
Supporting the company's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance under public company rules alongside the
Director of Internal controls

Participation in forecasting organization-wide results on a monthly basis
Analyzing variances in monthly results compared to budget or forecast and understanding drivers of our business
Managing the stand-alone Sound Physicians annual financial statement

REQUIREMENTS
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND TRAINING NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB:

Advanced excel skills
Strong organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of organization
IV. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Education
Minimum: BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification required

Experience
Minimum: 6-7 years of experience in a public accounting firm

SPECIAL JOB OR ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Indoor office environment

OTHER PHYSICAL AND/OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB:

Sitting at desk working on computer for extended periods of time
Working on computer for up to eight hours (with breaks)
Moving/lifting file boxes (up to 25 lbs)
