Starting Wage:

$13.93+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours:

Part time, up to 25 hours per week
Provides First Responder course(s) to include Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Oxygen Administration (O2), Automatic External Defibrillation (AED), First Aid trainings, and YMCA 5th Edition Lifeguard trainings. The goal of the First Responder Instructor is to teach skill-based courses that develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence for part time, volunteer, and full time staff so that they effectively respond to a medical emergency. Provides a quality experience focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruct:
• Instruct Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Oxygen Administration (O2), Automatic External Defibrillation (AED), First Aid trainings, and YMCA 5th Edition Lifeguard courses.
• Responsible for pre-course administration, administering the course, and post-course administration.
• Develop course syllabus, reserve classroom and pool time, schedule additional lifeguards to guard pool, and communicate training information with branch staff.
• Create participant registration packers for each candidate.
• Fulfill instructor course objectives and expectations.

Communications and Marketing:
• Prepare, edit, and proofread documents for First Responder Course publication while adhering to established Association standards for quality, format, and style.
• Assist in the production of print and electronic publications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Oxygen Administration (O2), Automatic External Defibrillation (AED), First Aid trainings, and YMCA 5th Edition Lifeguard trainings i.e.: newsletters, marketing materials, and direct mail solicitations.
• Prepare correspondence, forms, brochures, flyers, and manuals using Microsoft Office. Ensure quality and consistency of program materials and flyers.

Financial Development and Philanthropy:
• Meet performance measurement through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.

Requirements

• 1 year of teaching CPR, First Aid, Oxygen, AED, and Lifeguarding.
• Knowledge of YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties’ Procedures and Policies.
• Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, and communications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional.
• Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day. Complete other online and in-person training as required.
